Albus Dumbledore was depicted as being the son of Percival and Kendra Dumbledore and was born around 1881. Reference has been made to Albus Dumbledore's brother Aberforth who is supposedly three years older than Albus Dumbledore.

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it was established that they also had a sister, Ariana, who at the age of six was attacked by three male Muggle youths who had witnessed her using magic. In the Harry Potter books, a Muggle was someone who did not possess the power of magic.

Albus Dumbledore attended Hogwarts and was known as the most brillian student to have ever stepped into the school. He was in the house of Gryffindor.

Albus Dumbledore was forced to become head of the family after his mother died and his father was in Azkaban. Dumbledore admitted to Harry Potter that he felt trapped at home and that his potential to be one of the greatest wizards of all time was wasted. When a young Gellert Grindelwald arrived in Godric's Hollow, Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald became friends.

Later, however, Albus Dumbledore confessed to Harry Potter that he had doubts about Grindelwald's plans. Gellert Grindelwald became a dark wizard. Eventually, Albus Dumbledore defeated the Grindelwald.

As a teacher at Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore had the task of finding the young wizard Tom Marvolo Riddle and offer him a place at Hogwarts. Tom Marvolo Riddle was more commonly known as Lord Voldemort and the main antagonist of Albus Dumbledore.
